Shallow Foundation Ultimate Bearing Capacity Calculator is a lightweight web tool that lets geotechnical engineers quickly estimate the ultimate bearing capacity (Qu) of shallow foundations on sand. The app offers three independent approaches—an XGBoost model, a CatBoost model, and the classic Terzaghi bearing-capacity equation—so you can check results in seconds.

How it works

  • Inputs – foundation width (B), depth (D), length-to-width ratio (L/B), soil unit weight (γ), and internal friction angle (φ).
  • Outputs – ultimate bearing capacity in kPa.
  • Speed – the machine learning models are pre-trained and loaded once, so calculations are fast.
  • Tech stack – Python, Gradio UI, NumPy, Pandas, XGBoost, CatBoost.
